WSMC Services for the School of World Studies
Language lab support: The WSMC will schedule one trained lab assistant to help SWS instructors with language labs by the hour. Advanced notice and detailed description of work to be done is required.
Instructional support: The WSMC will provide SWS Instructors with instructional support for language labs, multimedia presentations and workshops.
Technical support: SWS Instructors may request technical support for all WSMC applications and equipment.
Software-driven language training: The WSMC offers Rosetta Stone, Tell Me More, EuroTalk, and a host of other robust language learning applications.
Reserving materials: Instructors may hold print and media materials on reserve in WSMC (Hibbs 425). Contact Anna Marcinkowska or Nikie Little for details.
Digitizing media: The WSMC provides basic media prodcutin services, digitizing old audio and video cassestte tapes, LPs, encoding media for computer playback and for web streaming. Copyrighted material can only be duplicated when original recording is being replaced by a new new format.
Video editing: The WSMC can assist with simple video editing projects if they are related to teaching and learning in the School of World Studies. these projects tend to grow as instructors explore and discover the capabilities of today's high-end editors.
Foreign language placement testing for French, German, Latin, Spanish and Russian is administered through the WSMC. Anyone wishing to take a placement test should go to Hibbs 425. Click here for placement testing guidelines.
