World Studies Media Center FAQ

What is WinTV?

WinTV is the program that allows you to view the international (SCOLA) channels and video files the lab computers. Each computer in the lab has WinTV installed and has the capability to watch any of the international channels from any location in the lab. It also serves as a basic media player for all region DVDs.

To access WinTV:

1) Click the "Start" button on your toolbar and look for the "Lab Apps" tab. Click on the "WinTV2000" icon. A screen will appear on your desktop.

To access international (SCOLA) channels:

1) Once WinTV2000 is open on your desktop, the international channels should appear on screen. The channel button is on the top left hand side of the screen with arrows pointing "up" and "down".

2) If the international channels do not show up immediately, look for the "menu" button on the left hand side of the screen. Click here and select "Display", then make sure that the option "Tuner" is selected.

3) Click RC> on the bottom right to access this panel.

To access more advanced settings click the PREF button:

1) The first tab will adjust display settings.

2) The second tab wil choose your video recording path. This will allow you to record video from your WinTV stream.

3) This will set up your snapshot settings. Snapshot means a single still image capture of whats on the WinTV display.
