World Studies Media Center FAQ

Microsoft Word has a built in proofing tool that will allow you to check your spelling and grammar. When you type in Word you will see misspellings underlined in red and grammar errors in green.

To see the suggested spelling of a word:

1) Right click on the red underlined word. Suggestions will be displayed in a list as well as the option to ignore the word or add it to library.

To see a grammar suggestions:

1) Right click on the green underlined word or phrase. This will display suggested grammatical forms.

These features will work with any of the languages that we have loaded through Microsoft Word. The computers in the lab also come equipped with language thesauruses and dictionaries in several languages.

To see which languages Word can proof read in:

1) Click the "Tools" tab at the top of the Word screen.

2) Find "Language" and select "Set Language".

3) Select the language you wish to have your paper proof read in.

*Note: Word can only proof read in the languages that have a check mark beside the name. If a language does not have a check mark, then Word cannot proof read in that language.
