Join some of the great minds of VCU's Religious Studies Department for "Our Common Thread: Understanding People of the Sacred Scripture," a lecture series that is bringing people together through exploring and understanding scripture in the Jewish, Islamic, and Christian faiths. This lecture, presented by Dr. Lynda Weaver-Williams, is the first of three lectures in this series. Russia has pushed back by cutting Ukraine's natural gas supply and intervening in Georgia's campaign in South Ossetia. Will Russia regain its traditional leadership role in the region? We will be hosting renown speaker Carl Wilkens, an anti-genocide activist who has experienced the tensions in Africa firsthand. Wilkens was the last American to remain in Rwanda when ethnic violence broke out during the early 1990s. There will be a complimentary full dinner buffet along with a moving presentation . . . a great opportunity to learn more about the pressing genocide in Africa and take a step forward to making a difference.
