Jessica Groopman

Hi, my name's Jessica Groopman, I won the award for outstanding Archaeology minor, even though I'm an Anthropology major. I chose that major because it was most interesting to me (I actually chose six majors prior to it) and I think everyone should do that for college because you can't do a good job if you're not actually into the material that you're studying. For me anthropology is very interesting, I would recommend anyone into the program, the faculty is great though somewhat short-staffed, just because a key figure passed away this year. It's vastly interesting, there's a lot to learn; linguistics, archaeology, biological anthropology, cultural studies - you really can't go wrong, that's what I would say to any newcomer into the program. I hope that it has prepared me to be out in the real world, I guess I can't really say at this point because I haven't graduated yet, but all in all I think that the critical thinking that anthropology emphasizes is nothing but as asset in the real world and in the job market.
