Madison Landa
My name is Madison Landa and I am a sophomore here at VCU. I am an international studies and German major and recently received the Volkmar Risch Memorial Scholarship. I chose international studies as my major after taking Professor Saladino's class, International Relations. Originally I was a studying psychology but his class really awoke my interest in international politics. I had been taking German in high school and decided to stick with it here, as it complimented my international studies well. I have really enjoyed working with the School of World Studies thus far, as they have a myriad of unique opportunities to offer to the students that you might not find at other schools. I especially love the wide variety of study abroad programs and think they are such a valuable experience to have. They SWS office has also been helpful in finding me different internships in relevance to my majors. If I could offer any advice to a new student coming into the SWS, I would recommend that they take full advantage in learning about the school's study opportunities. There are so many different ways to earn credit and experience outside of the classroom that that is what has been the best part of my work towards my major. I would also highly encourage studying abroad, as it is an unforgettable experience that you can never attain in the classroom. |
